In Shemoth/Exodus 31:13-18 we read:
13
¦My Shabbats you are to guard, by all means, for it is a sign
between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that
I, Yahweh, am setting you apart.
14 And you shall guard the Shabbat, for it is set-apart to you. Everyone who profanes it shall certainly be put to death, for anyone who does work on it, that being shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days work is done, and on the seventh it a Shabbat of rest, set apart to Yahweh. Everyone doing work on the Shabbat day shall certainly be put to death.
16 And the children of Yisrael shall guard the Shabbat, to observe the Shabbat throughout their generations as an everlasting covenant.
17 Between Me and the children of Yisrael it is a sign forever. For in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.
18 And when He had ended speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Mosheh two tablets of the Witness, tablets of stone written with the finger of Elohim.
The requirements of keeping Shabbat are very clear.
1. It is a sign between Yahweh and His people
2. It is a holy, set-apart day from the other days of the week.
3. The one who profanes Shabbat has to be put to death and excluded from among His people.
4. No work is to be done.
5. It is to be observed as an everlasting covenant between Yahweh and His people.
6. It is a sign forever.
7. It is a day of rest and refreshing in Yahweh.
8. It is the Fourth Commandment written on the tablets of stone with the finger of Elohim, given on Mount Sinai.
9. It is the tablets of the Witness.
Profaning Shabbat (not keeping it) leads to the wrath of Elohim to be poured out on the people.
Yahshua HaMashiach-Messiah of Israel commanded His disciples to keep the Ten Commandments. Keeping Shabbat (from Friday night to Saturday night) holy is the Fourth Commandment. In the Renewed Testament Yahshua, the Messiah of Yisra'El, kept Shabbat.
Luke 4:16 And He came to Natsareth/Nasareth, where He had been brought up. And according to His practice, (as His custom was), He went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.Of course, Yahshua kept Shabbat like all the rest of the Jews as His custom was.
Mattityahu/Matthew 12:8 Yahshua called Himself the Master of the Shabbat.
Mattityahu/Matthew 12:10-13 He healed a man with a withered hand on Shabbat.
Mark 6:2 Yahshua taught in the synagogue on Shabbat. And Sabbath having come, He (Yahshua) began to teach in the synagogue.
Yohanan/John 7:23 Yahshua said: If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the Torah of Mosheh should not be broken, are you wroth with Me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?
Yohanan/John 9:14 It was on Shabbat that Yahshua healed a blind man. Now it was a Sabbath when Yahshua made the clay and opened his eyes.
Acts 16:13 And on the Sabbath day we went outside the city by a river, where there used to be prayer. And having sat down we were speaking to the women who met there.
Acts 17:2 And according to his practice, Shaul went in unto them, and for three Sabbaths was reasoning with them (Yehudim/Jews) from the Scriptures.
Acts 18:4 And he (Rav Shaul/Apostle Paul) was reasoning in the congregation/synagogue every Sabbath, and won over both Yehudim and Greeks.
Ibrim/Hebrews 4:9 So there remains a Sabbath-keeping for the people of Elohim. All His talmidim (disciples) kept Shabbat as well.
